The Friary fielded a strong 7 aside team following their defeat the previous week. The girls competed against Denstone College, Stafford Grammar, Nottingham High and St. Edwards with some schools playing an A & B team.

From the off the girls started with their first 0-0 draw against Denstone but it wasn’t long before the second match saw Isobel Allman fire home a scorcher of goal from a well-practiced short corner routine. With this victory in the bag the girls pressured St. Edwards for another win and drew with Denstone A team.

This put the girls against Stafford Grammar in a decider penalty shoot-out seeing Lily Sperryn see off the opposition with 3 cracking saves and successful goals from the Friary penalty takers.

Kim Fallows, team coach, said: “It was a fantastic performance and it was impossible not to be proud and impressed with the high level of skills displayed during the competition.”
