This is an advanced level course leading to AS level after 1 year and the full A-level after 2 years
During this course you will have the opportunity to:
* Study physical activity through disciplines, enquiry and performance
* Understand the working of the human body
* Learn about how skill is acquired, practised and developed
* Understand the importance of psychology in sport
* Investigate the History of Sport along with social and cultural aspects of sport
* Carry out a Personal Exercise Programme
* Develop a wide range of skills, particularly communication, working with others, problem solving and I.T.
You will study six units:
1. Anatomical and physiological aspects which influence performance (AS)
2. Socio-cultural and psychological aspects which influence performance (AS)
3. Practical coursework / project
4. Socio-cultural and psychological aspects which influence performance (A)
5. Anatomical and physiological aspects which influence performance (A)
6. Coursework / project
Coursework will take the follwing form:
* Personal performance and demonstration; analysis and synthesis of two
activities. Production of a 6 week Personal Exercise Programme which is
assessed and monitored.
The examination board for this subject is:
* AQA (www.aqa.org.uk) If successful, your results will be graded A to E
Assessment for the full A level will follow the pattern:
* Unit Examinations: 70%
* Coursework: 30%
